Business Improvement Engineer

We are looking for a multi-skilled engineer who has a passion to drive improvement through maximising the performance of our operational machines and developing other people to do the same in the business.

What you'll be doing

As a Business Improvement Engineer, your role will be to drive step change improvements in OEE (Availability, Speed & Quality) through maximising the performance of our operational machines.

  • OEE SME – Able to calculate and interrogate OEE to diagnose improvement activities to reduce planned and unplanned downtime and line throughput
  • Machine performance studies to identify and resolve the major causes of downtime, speed loss and/or waste. RCA and BDA techniques
  • Running trials to understand optimum performance settings of machines. Development and communication of new standards. Creation of process confirmations
  • Development of new Preventative Maintenance Routines to embed long term fixes – “maintain the gain” post BI project completion
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to design machine modifications (or new machines) to drive improvements in performance
  • Developing and writing business cases to secure Capital Investment for improvement initiatives in line with Greencore Capital process
  • Running studies to understand and simplify changeover activity
  • Develop good Practice and pro-actively share amongst the GME and GEE community
  • Support the development of colleagues through the delivery of Engineering Excellence training and coaching sessions

What we’re looking for

  • Strong mechanical engineering background within a Food Manufacturing environment
  • Robust root cause analysis skills with ability to identify permanent solutions
  • Good communication skills with ability to engage people in the need for change
  • Awareness of Lean improvement techniques with willingness to learn
